Today I’ll be tackling one of the ways the Holy Spirit works in the gifts of the spirit. When you step out in prophetic evangelism, you will typically see this gift in use. Before we talk about how to see it in use, let’s look at what is it first and where it comes from.
In 1 Corinthians 12, Paul address the spiritual gifts and the word of knowledge is mentioned in verse 8 (see below).
4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,
What does this passage tell us? First, it says ALL these gifts are from the same spirit and the same Lord, meaning the Holy Spirit and God. Then it tells us that there are varieties of gifts: wisdom, knowledge and others mentioned as you read on.
Now, let’s focus on the word of knowledge. when translated in the greek this means “the fresh word of God signifying general intelligence or knowledge about a thing”. Meaning this; God will give you specific knowledge about a person or place with the goal of you sharing that with someone to show them God’s intimate love and knowledge of them.
How does this work, Jason? Simple, really. If you hear God’s voice daily for yourself, you’ll begin hearing for other people when you step out into the street and evangelize. Then you will tell them what God is saying. Then watch God move.
I’ll end with a quick testimony – One time I was out at the mall, and we were led to an Auntie Anne’s pretzel shop. God had a word for the woman behind the counter. He told me she really wanted to be a nurse but didn’t have the finances for it so she wasn’t pursuing it. God told me to tell her she should pursue it and that he would open the doors financially for her. As I was telling her this, she broke down crying and said she was praying for an answer and so thankful we showed up to talk to her.
These words of knowledge come for physical pain and other issues too. Check out the testimonies I share in my teachings page. They’ll encourage you! 🙂
